Planned over six years and produced over four years, Tomoshi Urushihara (うるし原智志) was the mastermind behind every aspect of this animation, resulting in the creation of "Front Innocent."

The story takes place during the Civil War, a time when women's rights were virtually non-existent. Most maidservants in the mansion were mere playthings for the master and other men, a fact blatantly visible given their skimpy uniforms.

In this setting, the heroine, the young lady of the manor "Fei", shares a profoundly intimate bond with the maidservant "Sophia" all their lives. Fei even insists she wants to marry the male lead, "John", alongside Sophia.

You’ll witness maids casually engaging in sex with the master, as if it's just another task. Sophia, while a maidservant, was entrusted by Fei to take care of John during her absence.

It becomes clear that Fei loves John, but also cherishes Sophia. John seems to view Sophia more like a diversion, just something for pleasure, but he’s gentlemanly and tender enough to avoid coming across poorly.

Sophia, captivated by Fei since childhood, bases most of her actions around Fei. She's even learned bedroom skills for John's care when Fei isn't at home. When Fei finds John and Sophia in a passionate embrace in the stables, Sophia immediately rushes to embrace her. There’s even a lesbian scene between Fei and Sophia eventually.

When you look at it, it has maids, pure love, harems, and yuri. So why did such a special adult anime lead to bankruptcy?

As the original artist for such a renowned game, Urushihara himself is a celebrated artist, participating in numerous notable anime productions. With "Front Innocent," his personal company took charge of everything, every frame crafted like a carved piece of art, something that surpassed even mainstream works of the time in terms of art style, certainly one of a kind.

But it's Urushihara’s almost obsessive attention to detail that skyrocketed production costs, in an industry where selling adult anime is already challenging. With rampant piracy and its niche appeal, despite having its market, it can't match mainstream anime. When the sales cannot keep up with such high production quality, it's no wonder the company went bankrupt after just one episode.
