Hello everyone, I'm Xiaoxue.
Have you ever heard of the pure romance manga called “Dojima-kun Stays Unshaken”?

This is a lighthearted romantic comedy manga by the teacher Panyakawa. It mainly tells the story of the female protagonist, Himekawa, who often tries to tease the male protagonist, Dojima, but ends up self-sabotaging and making a fool of herself. In the end, she realizes that she actually likes Dojima, and they eventually end up together.
Although the manga seems to have been abruptly ended, the story is clear and has a coherent end, making it an enjoyable piece of work.
The author has also drawn some sweet after-stories of the couple getting married and having kids, which feels wonderfully satisfying.

Until one day, the author received a commission on Skeb (a Japanese artist commission site)….
The illustration portrays the protagonists of the same series going to the beach with their classmates. At first, Himekawa's bikini top is accidentally undone by a falling boy, exposing her breasts to everyone around.

After Dojima is sent away, Himekawa falls asleep on the beach, and her male classmates strip her swimsuit off and play all sorts of naughty, prankish games, capturing everything on camera as a keepsake.

Although the author said on Twitter that such behavior isn’t technically NTR, drawing such content with the heroine of a pure love story feels like placing a bitter gourd inside candy. It's possible to eat it, but no one would feel comfortable consuming it.
This reminds me of another highly popular work where the original author later went on to draw R18 doujin of the heroine. This time, it even went into explicit scenes. But why didn’t it cause such a huge controversy? Let’s take a look…
Yakitate!! Japan - Tsukino Azusagawa

Yakitate!! Japan is also quite well-known in Taiwan, especially since the Eastern Movie Channel often replays it. Although Kid might be more popular in Taiwan, I'm sure Tsukino is a childhood goddess for many of you!

This all happened during C94, when Takashi Hashiguchi, the original author of Yakitate!! Japan, published a doujin under the pen name Hashistone, featuring Tsukino being trapped and violated during a game of Kings, due to her college classmates’ jealousy.

So, why was Dojima's work criticized while Yakitate!! Japan's was left unscathed?
In simpler terms, Yakitate!! Japan’s later stages essentially became a comedy manga, never truly delving deeply into romantic relationships. In fact, Tsukino herself suffered a drastic change, even becoming bald. Furthermore, it had been quite a while since the story ended, allowing people to separate themselves from its original universe easily.

Conversely, although Dojima-kun also concluded, the author continued to update with stories of their married life and then released such work unexpectedly, making it unsurprising that it faced criticism.
